📚 Read Write Inc. Phonics Information Evening for YR, Y1 & Y2 Parents

A post in our latest news section.

đź“… Date: Tuesday 21st October
🕕 Time: 5:00–5:30pm (Staff available until 6:00pm)
📍 Location: School Hall (Please enter via the main entrance)

At St Mary’s, we use the Read Write Inc. (RWI) phonics programme to teach early reading and spelling. RWI is a structured, systematic approach designed to help children become confident, fluent readers. It supports children in:

  • Learning to read sounds and blend them into words
  • Developing comprehension and spelling skills

What to Expect

During the evening, we will:

  • Explain how the RWI programme works in our school
  • Share how phonics is taught in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2
  • Offer practical tips for supporting your child’s reading at home
  • Answer any questions you may have

Reading is a vital skill that underpins all areas of learning. Developing strong reading habits early helps children build vocabulary, imagination, and confidence. Your support at home plays a crucial role in your child’s reading journey, and we look forward to working together to give them the best start.

We hope you can join us for this informative evening.
