“Powering Up for a Brighter, Greener Future!”

We’re marking a special day on Tuesday, 27th January to celebrate the positive impact of our solar panels and the steps we’re taking towards a greener future.

The day will be led by Wendy Litherland, Head of Education at Solar for Schools, and we’re delighted to welcome special guests:

• Liz Twist MP
• Kathy Wilson Ellis, Behaviour Change Specialist at AECOM
• Meryl Batchelor, Ministry of Eco Education and Trustee of OASES
• Liam Granville, Northern Power Grid

The event will be packed with exciting activities for pupils and staff—and we’d love for parents to join us for the closing celebration from 2:45 pm to 3:30 pm in the school hall.

What’s Happening on the Day?

Assembly for Pupils
Children will take part in an inspiring assembly celebrating our solar journey and what sustainability means for our school and beyond.

Student Group Workshop
Using the Solar Explorer Kit, pupils will explore solar energy, learn how it connects to home energy use and discover exciting green careers for the future.

Mini Classroom Activities
Children will learn how to monitor our solar energy and use graphs to track real-time data.

Parent Invitation
Join us from 2:45 pm to 3:30 pm for the final celebration! You’ll enjoy a Key Stage 1 assembly led by Key Stage 2 school council pupils to hear what the children have learned. You will then take part in a solar monitoring activity and take away practical tips for saving energy at home.
