Children’s Enterprise Fair a Huge Success!

A post in our latest news section.

St Mary’s recently held its very first Children’s Enterprise Fair, and what a fantastic event it was! Pupils were invited to create a craft at home to sell at the fair, and we were delighted that 40 children took part — an incredible turnout.

There was a wonderful variety of items on offer, from baking to bracelets, bookmarks to oil pastel artwork, candles to 3D-printed creations, as well as teddies, bath bombs, jam and keyrings. There truly was something for everyone! We were incredibly impressed by the time, effort and creativity shown by both the children and their families in preparing their stalls.

The children earned a fantastic amount of money, which we are sure they thoroughly enjoyed spending over the half-term break. More importantly, they developed valuable skills such as teamwork, creativity, money management and understanding supply and demand.

The event was a huge success, and both staff and pupils are already looking forward to the next one!

What families said:

  • “Daisy and Alice loved the experience. They learnt some very valuable skills—working hard, putting time and effort into making their crafts, and understanding pricing by adapting their prices depending on how popular their products were.”
  • “Lydia absolutely loved the Enterprise Fair—she had the best time!”

What children said:

  • Rosie said, “I like making my own things.”
  • Harriet: “I liked earning my own money.”
  • Daisy said, “I liked that I made it myself and its yours- I felt proud.”
  • Georgia said, “I feel like I’ve got my own job.”
